Conservation and community development should work together.

ABC believes that people should be able to benefit from natural resources and biodiversity responsibly while protecting them for future generations.

Our Vision
“To make Tanzania one of the best bird and environmental conservation destinations in the world.”
Our Mission
“To encourage and empower young people to participate in bird conservation and afforestation through environmental education, practical training, awareness, and sustainable tourism activities.”

What we set out to do.

Training young people to identify birds accurately and to understand the conservation issues that affect them, in the classroom and in the field.

Planting trees with schools and communities, and teaching the environmental knowledge that keeps those trees and habitats standing.

Monitoring and recording birds so that conservation decisions rest on observation rather than assumption.

Raising awareness of environmental challenges and encouraging responsible use of natural resources.

Supporting young women to build careers as field guides, bird guides and nature interpreters in Tanzania’s tourism sector.

The principles behind every program.

Conservation

Protecting birds, habitats and biodiversity is the reason the organization exists.

Education

Knowledge shared clearly and practically is what makes conservation last.

Youth Empowerment

Young people are not an audience for conservation. They are its workforce.

Inclusion

Opportunity should reach young women, men, students, and communities alike.

Sustainability

Natural resources used responsibly today remain available for future generations..

Practical Action

Field work, planting and training. Conservation that can be seen and measured.

Four areas where our work makes a difference.

Conservation

Protecting birds, forests, habitats and biodiversity.

Education

Building practical knowledge and skills in birding, conservation, technology, English and tourism.

Opportunity

Creating pathways for young people into conservation and sustainable tourism.

Community

Encouraging communities and young people to participate in environmental conservation.

Our Training Partner

Attraction Bush College

ABC works closely with Attraction Bush College to connect conservation education with professional tourism training.

The partnership provides opportunities for young people to develop practical skills through classroom and field-based learning in birding, wildlife observation, environmental awareness and nature interpretation.

For young people moving from conservation training into work, this link matters: the skills built in ABC programs continue into recognised, professional tourism training.
